Enterprise AI and Commerce Architect

AI that works inside the retail system.

I’m Chandan Venkatesh, a Senior Principal Engineer applying AI across retail—from customer and associate experiences to order capture, inventory, sourcing, fulfillment, payments, rental, returns, and reverse logistics. Twenty years building these systems helps me turn model capability into reliable operating outcomes.

My point of view

The model is only one part of the product.

AI creates value when the surrounding system can convert a signal into a safe, explainable action. That means grounded data, bounded tools, observable workflows, deterministic fallbacks, and an operating loop that can act on what the model discovers.

My work explores that boundary: the model can plan, infer, and assist; the application still owns truth, policy, validation, and outcomes.

Adaptive Storefront

A GenUI commerce experiment where AI changes the structure of the page—not just the ranking of products—based on the shopper’s current intent.

  • OpenAI tool calls constrained by Zod schemas
  • Grounded product catalog with deterministic fallbacks
  • Progressive streaming UI in Next.js and React

Voice AI · Retail operations

Retail Associate Copilot

Private-earpiece assistance with local retrieval, conversation memory, confidence gating, grounded LLM fallback, and sub-second handling for common store questions.

Human-centered AI · Voice interface

Sparkle’s Magic Game Maker

Children describe a game idea; AI creates a playable HTML5 game. Web Speech handles idea capture while TensorFlow.js enables in-browser voice controls without server round trips.

Accessibility · Applied vision

Colorblind Window Mirror

A practical accessibility prototype exploring how live visual transformation can help people inspect interfaces and everyday content through different color-vision modes.

Retail domain depth

Retail AI built on retail systems expertise.

My advantage is context across the retail operating model: where decisions happen, what data grounds them, and which system must act on the result.

Customer

Discovery and selling

Intent-aware experiences, generative interfaces, guided selling, and better product understanding.

Associate

Store copilots

Grounded answers, workflow guidance, confidence gates, and human escalation.

Order

Orders and payments

Exception detection, modification assistance, risk signals, and next-best actions.

Supply chain

Inventory and sourcing

Availability, demand signals, allocation, sourcing choices, and explainable decision support.

Fulfillment

Delivery and operations

Promise risk, orchestration, recovery paths, and operating loops that convert prediction into action.

Circular retail

Rental, returns, and disposition

Reservation support, inspection assistance, routing, disposition, and reverse-logistics decisions.

10M transactions / hour

Designed a distributed inventory-availability platform target for national retail demand across cloud and store clients.

55% fewer support tickets

Systematic fixes to delivery-order workflows reduced operational tickets and raised completion reliability.

37M records migrated

Moved enterprise order data from Oracle to a Cassandra-based cache with Elasticsearch retrieval.

$9M booking sales protected

Recovery and synchronization programs prevented delivery-order revenue from stalling before terminal status.

Where can AI improve the retail decision?

I’m interested in thoughtful conversations about generative commerce, retail copilots, AI-assisted decisioning, and the systems work required to make those ideas reliable from storefront to reverse logistics.
